Avery's First Pain

I have never felt so helpless as a parent. I know it's so silly, but my poor baby felt her first real pain today and there was very little I could do about it.

She just couldn't poop. Since we started solid foods, her poop has gotten harder and less frequent, but today, she tried and tried and could get nothing out. She screamed and cried, every time we stood her up, she would try to poop, turning her face bright red, tears coming down her face, and she would shake. I felt so, so bad for her. I looked online about what I could do, so I gave her a warm bath, a tummy massage, moved her legs around and gave her some prune baby food. After a few hours, she finally got something out. It was as hard as a rock. Some time later, she pooped again, then again. Finally, the last time, it was much looser and she didn't cry but one little wimper and I think that was only because her little bottom hurt.

I was almost in tears, every time I stood her up, and watched her in so much pain. I knew it was good to make her poop because the longer she didn't, it would be harder for her to go. So I would make her try, then hold her and get her relaxed to try again. It broke my heart. Poor thing.


It is time. I have put this off long enough. This weekend, I was so upset when I was trying clothes on. I just felt so, wrong. So wrong to be as big as I am. I am not all that big, considering. But I am not comfortable, at all. It's time to lose this weight. Here is my before. Stay tuned for my after.

Ah poor baby! :( Pears always helped Bailey (still do acutally) get the poop moving. Also remember that she stopped nursing and breastmilk helps them keep their poops runny. I am sure her tummy will adjust soon. Sounds like you are doing all you can at this point to keep her comfy.

You can do it Jenna. Just keep focused and remember WHY you are working out. That's always helped me. If only to make yourself feel better, not look better. But don't be too hard on yourself, it takes time.

poor baby :( I hate it when they're in pain and there's nothing you can do to help...at least she finally got it all out!

Why I am Pro Universal Healthcare and Changes to Our Healthcare System

Due to my recent proactivity with my credit and paying off debt, I decided to give the hospital a call where I was admitted about a month ago and ask about my bill. I wanted to make sure I didn't miss it in the mail and I wanted to get an idea of what I'd be paying for my stay. Guess Who Has A New Potty???

This girl!! Jason and I took Avery to Target tonight to find a potty chair. We didn't know what kind to get. When we got there, she loved the Sesame Street one. It's the kind that sits on the toilet, not an actual chair. I've heard both reasonings on a chair and a pad for the real toilet. On one hand, the chairs are little and easier for them to sit on and they aren't scary to flush. On the other, the pad doesn't require you to have to clean out a chair and they teach kids to sit on the big potty from the get go. What it really came down to was that we just don't have a big bathroom at all, so keeping an actual chair in the bathroom would have been hard. So we got the pad.
