A Little Prayer

I have tried for the past few days to upload our Seattle pictures and I am having such a tough time! I don't understand what's going on! Anyway, I spent the last days since we got back from Seattle taking care of a sick baby. We've been so lucky these last few months that Avery is in good health, so this was a little hard to deal with. I think just being on a plane, the time difference and the climate change just got the ball rolling and then the horrible wind and smoke from the Possum Kingdom fire just did her in. I got up on Wednesday and let her sleep in a little before taking her to Pam's and then around 3pm, I got a call that she had diarhea and a bad cough and I needed to come pick her up. Thursday I took the first half of the day off and Jason took the second half so she could stay home. I felt bad for her, but the little cutie wasn't acting sick at all, she had no fever, she was still eating and all seemed to be well, except for her cough. I thought she mi...

Show Us Your Life - Your Church

On Kelly's Korner, the post today is Show Us Your Church. I had another blog all ready for today, but I really would like to participate in this one. I attend Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, TX. I know, I know. A mega church, God's stadium, I've heard it called a millio n things. But really, its a very small church feel once you actually get involved. When Jason and I were looking for places to attend, we tried about 3 and none really seemed to fit. I have tried churches in the past and I have realized that I really like a "traditional" church more than I thought. By that, I mean a choir, singing songs that include the congregation in the worship, having a pastor who knows the Bible and having a church that is not wishy-washy on their beliefs. I have always wanted to be a part of church choir and it's kind of amazing to me how many churches don't have them anymore. I just kind of felt like with a worship team, it was more like a concert I was liste...

Who is in Control? My Story

God is good, isn't He? Just when I doubt that He knows what he's doing, something happens that proves it all the more. Today is my last challenge of my 7 day challenge. My task is to Write A Story. I was almost completely done with this story today, my life story, to share. When I went to choir rehearsal tonight, we were asked to share our story of how we came to know Christ with the person next to us. After a few minutes, our director said the one thing he hears the most is that most people don't know how to witness or share God with others. He told us the easiest way to do it is "tell your story." Ok, God. I am listening. I have always known Christ. I have been going to church since before I can remember and I accepted Him into my heart when I was around 7. I was a very active member of my youth group as a teen. But around 18, my senior year, I felt like I had lost Him. He completely stopped being the leader of my life and I started questioning a lot of my belie...

Patience is a Virtue

"Love is patient, love is kind..." Probably one of the most recognized verses of the Bible, even for non-Christians. We put this on cards, we read it at our weddings, we have it on decor around our house. But how often do we put it in to practice? Living with someone, day in and day out, can be very trying of your patience. When your spouse puts their clothes on the floor instead of the hamper, which is only 2 inches away (and I am not talking about Jason here). Or when your husband watches his movie a little too loud and it disturbs the show you are watching in the bedroom. Or when you hear a constant sound they make. All of that certainly tries your patience. It's very easy to lose your patience with a spouse, and it's weird because it just sort of, sneaks up on you. You go from being fine to being completely ridiculously impatient with this person and everything that is happening is just getting on your nerves! In times of impatience, it is important we pray fo...

Stress and Worry

About a year and a half ago, I was single, I lived alone, no dog, no boyfriend, nothing. I remember being stressed out and worried alot. Thinking back on it now, I don't remember exactly what I was that stressed out about. I think probably everyone is always stressed out about money, but my stress about money was more like, will I be able to go out tonight? What can I sacrifice so I can go to that movie? Will I be able to buy something new today? Will I be able to pay for my tanning membership this month? Not that those worries were silly, those were just the worries I had when I had no responsibilities in my life. Those were the worries at that time I was concerned about. I have received a taste of worry this year with Jason, introducing the kids, wondering when he lost his job how we were going to pay for both apartments, how the kids will have health insurance, how will we buy groceries for the kids that aren't just a bunch of junk. I mean, I got a taste of what it is like f...

God knows

It's been a while, so I thought I would write a blog. I have some things to say, so I thought, why not write them in my blog? It's funny how when you start to seek God, He shows up. In areas that you wouldn't imagine. Lately, we have been attending our new church home, Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano. We joined a couple of months ago and have really enjoyed being a part of what is going on there. We've been trying to seek God more in our actions and in our decisions. It's not always easy, but I have to say I have sought God more in these last few months than I have in the last 12 years. Well, seek and ye shall find. I was at work, of all places, where I didn't realize there were so many Christians. I started talking more about being a Christian, using God in regular conversation, and to my surprise, more people began to use it with me, and before too long, I feel like there are good Christian people there that I can talk to about things. One day last week,...

Beauty of A Strong Mind and Spirit

There are so many opportunities we have to allow negative thinking and doubt to enter our minds and take over completely. I know I am guilty of it and have had it happen more times than I care to remember. Thankfully, God has given me a great gift of a strong mind and spirit to battle my daily demons and overcome them. Whatever those demons may be... "I don't like the way I look." "I am not good enough for love." "I don't deserve happiness." "We don't have enough money." God has given you the ability to overcome anything that is set in your path and do it with strength. "I can do anything through Him who gives me strength." Phillipians 4:13. Those are such comforting words! I can do ANYTHING! All you have to do is pray and be positive. God never gives us more than we can handle. In times of stress or need, I know that my Lord will never give me more than can handle, and I can call upon Him to help me through.

My God, You Are My God

It's December 13th, that means 12 days to Christmas! I told myself I would blog about that this year. So, this week has been a hard one for me. I have been feeling very stressed, depressed, and my self-esteem hasn't been so great. I look in the mirror and don't like what I see, and it's not necessarily the weight. It's how I have kept myself up. My priorities have been a little skewed over the last few months, Jason and I both know that, and it has really done a number on me this week. There is one main component that's been missing from my life: God. I haven't been spending time with Him, in His word. It's funny how, over time, if you do not find time for God, your view of yourself goes right out the window and things in your life start to unravel. I am missing His presence, and I think that is what all of this is about. Therefore, on the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me... God and His Word. "Open the eyes of my heard, Lord. Open th...
