Five on Friday - Thoughts for the Weekend

Ok, here are some random Friday thoughts for you about my upcoming weekend!

1) I am very much not looking forward to having to get up at 7 am on a Saturday to trot two kids all over creation for their soccer games, both of which are at 9 am, on two different sides of Lewisville. I thought this whole "soccer mom" thing would be cool, but alas, it's not my scene. I don't see myself making shirts of my kids' teams, or purchasing uber expensive coordinating folding chairs to match my kids' team colors. And I spend most of the time chasing after or entertaining a two year old, so I very rarely get to see a shot they make, if any.

Do any of you like being soccer moms?

2) This weekend (actually last weekend) marks the beginning of a long line of busy weekends for our family. The next time we will have a plan-free, kid-free weekend is in five weeks, hopefully we can do something fun for our anniversary! 3 years, baby!

Do any of you feel like you spend all of your time being busy?

3) I switched our Netflix subscription back to streaming only, instead of streaming+dvd, because I realized I have had the same movie for the last five months, not even kidding. And, I forgot to send it back in time, so we now proudly own The Ides of March. Maybe this weekend we will actually watch it and get our $15 worth we got charged for it for not returning it in time. Is it good? I mean, is it $15 good? Anyone interesting in checking it out from the Whitehead DVD library?

4) Hopefully, it will work out that my sister Brooke and I will get some adult, girl alone time this evening and go out to dinner. I need it, man! Kids are driving me bonkers. And I would like to go somewhere COOL, not just somewhere close and easy. Don't you ever feel like even when you go out places, it still is only places that are convenient? I feel like I need to inconvenience myself once in a while and go somewhere I've never been. Maybe in 16 years, when Avery moves out.

5) I was introduced to someone at our company today, the VP actually, as the "adobe expert." 15 years ago, if I thought I would ever know enough about Adobe to be introduced as an "expert," I think I would have jumped off a cliff. Especially since it sounds so boring, next to my 18 year old dream of being "married to someone rich so I didn't have to work." Yeah. Well, it's nice to be an expert at something!!

It was a very good day.

I love it when God smiles upon us. I mean, He smiles upon us all the time. But sometimes, it's like sunshine, and Christmas morning, and rainbows, and babies, and awesomeness. On steroids. And I know that those times are not always permanent, so I learn to really wrap myself in His goodness, to take it all in, be happy, and just sit back and wait to see what He is going to do in my life. We have been struggling so long. I knew it was only a matter of time before things would be OK again. Where we would feel a little stability. Where we would take all of the things we learned while struggling and apply then when times are good. We have alot of great things going on in our lives right now. Some really great things. Some amazing, mindblowing, off the grid kind of great things. I wish I could share more, but for right now, let's just say that we are incredibly blessed with some great opportunities God is putting in our lives. I leave you with a gorgeous picture of our biggest bl

What is Your Skin Care Regimen?

Since turning 34 this year, I've been really trying to make sure I am taking care of my skin. I have been using Cover Girl Liquid Powder for years, but it always seemed to break my neck out. And full disclosure, my face cleaning routine consisted of using Avery's baby wipes (which actually do remove eye makeup surprisingly well). So, needless to say, my skin didn't always look its best.   So, I received some gift cards for my birthday and I decided to go ahead and spring for some better products. First thing I did was get something designed to clean my face. I ordered the Olay ProX Microdermabrasion System.     This system came with the battery-operated scrubber with both a brush and foam pad, plus every day face wash and microdermabrasion wash to be used twice a week. I have really loved using this system. The beauty is that you can really use any face wash you'd like. I will probably buy a pore-reducing wash after the tube they sent me is empty. This syst

Dancing With Dad

I have been working on a project these last couple of weeks for my previous company. Yesterday, I was working on my computer and heard roaring laughter coming from Avery's room. I walk in and found Jason and Avery dancing and singing away.   By sheer coincidence, this popped up on my Timehop today. Avery was only 1 in this picture. Boy, are these kiddos lucky to have such a great dad! It makes me heart melt.
