Pics From The House

Our house is still such a mess. We've literally been spending every minute working on it in some form or fashion. We still have a few things that need to be unpacked, but mostly, things are just everywhere and we haven't had a chance to give them all a place. We nearly tripled our square footage and I am still amazed that all of our stuff ever fit into a three bedroom apartment, or even a three bedroom house with a garage.

This is our sunroom. As you can see, we've put all empty boxes out there for now and still have about 4 left to unpack.

It's a really cool space, I will be very happy when this mess is out of here and we can get some furniture for it.

Inspiration struck me tonight with the dining room tonight when Jason hung this mirror on the wrong wall. After he hung it, I was like, oh yeah, I see where this room is going....at first, I was thinking dark and formal. But now I am thinking that since the den is so dark, the formal living and dining will be a little more light and airy. Plus, the chandelier has a finish on it that is creamy and a little beachy, so I think the blue and some cream with color pops would do it proud.

We did get half of a project done....these bad boys are about to say bye bye.

They are just, huge. Huge, brass chandeliers from the 70's with like, 15 light bulbs on each one that are about a million degrees. I kind of liked them in a weird way, until I stood underneath them for about 5 minutes and realized that they would add about $30 to my electricity bill every month.

Bye bye brass!

Hello new fan! So glad my husband and dad tackled these, cause it's TALLLL up there. These fans easily brought this living room into the 2000's.

I doubt that the air conditioner will be running very much in this room for a while. Two 52 inch fans in this room makes a huge difference.

I don't think I showed this area in my original house tour. They are just gaudy, bronze light fixtures that are very very Six Flags-y (did I mention that one of the developers of Six Flags is the one that built this house?) We will probably change those out at some point, but even though they are blue, white and red and just, weird, Jason and I both kind of think they are pretty cool. Definitely a conversation piece.

This is the first time our kitchen has been cleaned since we moved in.

White cabinets. Much better.

There are two things I love most about the kitchen. Don't get me wrong, this kitchen is great. It's a gally kitchen and of course I would love a great big kitchen, but it's definitely not a deal breaker. My dad and I said it almost seems like the kitchen was put in as an afterthought - "Hey, I guess we will add a kitchen! This hallway will do!" It's a big kitchen (lengthwise), but it just doesn't fit with the size of the rest of the house. It's definitely a house for entertaining, and the builder had that in mind for sure. There are doors on both sides that close the kitchen off for when the "help" was preparing food.

I love the passthrough to the den. The granite countertops look much newer than the other countertops, so we think this bar top was added later.

The other thing I love is the shutters over the sink, with a great big window outside.

This is how are living room is shaping up. Sorry for not cleaning up, but quite frankly, I just don't care too much, nor do I have the energy, to stage any pictures tonight.

This is the other area I am loving right now. The coffee filter wreath is just perfect in our bedroom.

And finally, and I will take better pictures when it's not dark out. But our beautiful porch. (Wreaths to come). Terrible picture, I know.

Hello Bella!

Ok. I am tired just putting this up tonight. I am going to B-E-D.

What is Your Skin Care Regimen?

Since turning 34 this year, I've been really trying to make sure I am taking care of my skin. I have been using Cover Girl Liquid Powder for years, but it always seemed to break my neck out. And full disclosure, my face cleaning routine consisted of using Avery's baby wipes (which actually do remove eye makeup surprisingly well). So, needless to say, my skin didn't always look its best.   So, I received some gift cards for my birthday and I decided to go ahead and spring for some better products. First thing I did was get something designed to clean my face. I ordered the Olay ProX Microdermabrasion System.     This system came with the battery-operated scrubber with both a brush and foam pad, plus every day face wash and microdermabrasion wash to be used twice a week. I have really loved using this system. The beauty is that you can really use any face wash you'd like. I will probably buy a pore-reducing wash after the tube they sent me is empty. This syst

It was a very good day.

I love it when God smiles upon us. I mean, He smiles upon us all the time. But sometimes, it's like sunshine, and Christmas morning, and rainbows, and babies, and awesomeness. On steroids. And I know that those times are not always permanent, so I learn to really wrap myself in His goodness, to take it all in, be happy, and just sit back and wait to see what He is going to do in my life. We have been struggling so long. I knew it was only a matter of time before things would be OK again. Where we would feel a little stability. Where we would take all of the things we learned while struggling and apply then when times are good. We have alot of great things going on in our lives right now. Some really great things. Some amazing, mindblowing, off the grid kind of great things. I wish I could share more, but for right now, let's just say that we are incredibly blessed with some great opportunities God is putting in our lives. I leave you with a gorgeous picture of our biggest bl

Dancing With Dad

I have been working on a project these last couple of weeks for my previous company. Yesterday, I was working on my computer and heard roaring laughter coming from Avery's room. I walk in and found Jason and Avery dancing and singing away.   By sheer coincidence, this popped up on my Timehop today. Avery was only 1 in this picture. Boy, are these kiddos lucky to have such a great dad! It makes me heart melt.
