Father's Day/Take One

My sister, Brooke, asked me and Avery to come down and spend the night with her on Friday evening. She lives in Midlothian, so I left work early to make the hour drive and I am SO glad we had a chance to go visit! My other sister, Leslie, was able to come also so we spend Sister Night together! I am really beginning to love to hanging out with friends and family at the house and not actually have to go do anything!

Below is my sister's Shih-Tsu. His name is Buddy. He looks like an Ewok! Anyway, he loved Avery. He licked her to pieces when we set her down on the floor. Then, she grabbed his ear pretty hard. (I mean, wouldn't you?? He looks like a stuffed animal!) I am SO glad my daughter is used to being around dogs.


We decided a while back that we don't like giving Mother's Day/Father's Day gifts anymore. We give time and new experiences. I love finding new things to do with my parents, especially this year. We've found a couple really great things to do with our mom and dad. You can read about our Mother's Day day here.

For our dad, who is a golf enthusiast, we decided to go to Top Golf. What a great way to spend a day!!


Me and my sister, Leslie. And my dad squeezing in the back! Top Golf is a driving range, only, you are playing a game with either yourself or you can compete with each other. The goal is to make the microchipped balls go into these large holes to get points. (I have added a link in this post if you are interested in reading more about it.)






My dad was SO happy about us going. I mean, he just had such a great time. And so did we. It was a great way to spend a Saturday!

My dad is really such an amazing dad. My dad has been THE most supportive person in my whole life (Tied with my mom, of course). He always showed up at every game, show, competition, everything of ours growing up. He takes such an interest in our life and roots for us and worries about us. He is the dad that tells you, even though it's raining cats and dogs, to remember it's raining and drive carefully. He still wakes up worrying about us at night. He tells us that even though we are adults, we are still his kids and he will always be our dad (even if we're 50 years old). He loves my daughter to PIECES and tells her that she just lights up a room, that even though she is little, that when she's not there, his house feels so empty. He delights in all of his girls just "being there," we don't have to do anything but sit in his living room and it makes him happy. My dad has taught me how to perservere in life, how to follow through on things, how to keep on going no matter what happens. He loves movies and TV shows and music. He has a very dry sense of humor and I love just talking with him and making him laugh!!!

What a cool idea! We always spend time with our dads (my hubby and I) but I think it would be really fun to spend it doing something new each year. Thanks for the idea :)

It was a very good day.

I love it when God smiles upon us. I mean, He smiles upon us all the time. But sometimes, it's like sunshine, and Christmas morning, and rainbows, and babies, and awesomeness. On steroids. And I know that those times are not always permanent, so I learn to really wrap myself in His goodness, to take it all in, be happy, and just sit back and wait to see what He is going to do in my life. We have been struggling so long. I knew it was only a matter of time before things would be OK again. Where we would feel a little stability. Where we would take all of the things we learned while struggling and apply then when times are good. We have alot of great things going on in our lives right now. Some really great things. Some amazing, mindblowing, off the grid kind of great things. I wish I could share more, but for right now, let's just say that we are incredibly blessed with some great opportunities God is putting in our lives. Dancing With Dad

I have been working on a project these last couple of weeks for my previous company. Yesterday, I was working on my computer and heard roaring laughter coming from Avery's room. I walk in and found Jason and Avery dancing and singing away.   By sheer coincidence, this popped up on my Timehop today. Avery was only 1 in this picture. Boy, are these kiddos lucky to have such a great dad! It makes me heart melt.
