Avery's First Dentist Visit

Today was Avery's first dentist appointment! I know, many of you are like, 7 months old, dentist? Really? But, she has 7 teeth and grinds them all of the time, plus, insurance pays for it, so why not go ahead and take her??
We went and the girls here were SO nice to her. So sweet to her and just did a fantastic job. It was a brand new dental office in Frisco called Healthy Smiles, it's only meant for kids, so if you live up there I would highly suggest taking your kids. So, turns out, she had another tooth pop out in the last day or so, making a grand total of 8!!! Holy moly! She is very far ahead, as teeth go. The dentist told me this is the amount of teeth they normally see in a one year old, so I did good to bring her in now. They put some flouride treatment on her teeth and some other stuff meant to protect enamel. They also told me that pacifiers are fine up until age one, not to give her juice unless instructed by a pediatrician, and to make sure to wipe her teeth down with a cloth or toothbrush every time before putting her to bed. They also said grinding is perfectly normal and to not worry about it, even if it is the worst sound on the planet!

The only thing that will happen as a result of getting her teeth early is that she will probably lose them early. So, we will see how that goes! The dentist did tell me she was the youngest patient she'd ever seen (she was young though) but I am glad I took her. I am a big believer in good dental health. I didn't take any pictures and normally don't at her doctor's visits. Sometimes, I just don't think about it because I am filling out paperwork or talking to the doctors. I wish I had taken a picture of her in the chair like a big kid with her "No Cavity Club" sticker (they thought it was so cute to give her one!). Oh well. Next time.

So, here are some pictures of Avery and I. She makes those pictures cute, certainly not me!!!

I also read a blog post from a girl's blog I follow who lost her beloved dog. It really broke my heart. I wish she lived in DFW, I would totally help her look for him. I just love dogs so much and think they are members of the family, and to think of my dogs getting lost just breaks my heart. I wanted to post a picture of my beloved pups, Bella and Molly. They were just laying there last time, like loving sisters, and I just had to snap a picture!!

Have a good last day of June! (For reals?? This year has gone by WAY too fast)

How little she is! I haven' known a baby to have that many teeth at that age either. I haven't taken my 2 year old daughter to the dentist yet. I don't see any problems with her teeth and I make sure to keep them as healthy as I can by brushing daily. I'm going to take her in for her first visit soon, though. I think it's time! I wanted to pass along this Mom's Guide for caring for kids teeth. It has great ideas on how to keep your kids teeth healthy and even make it fun. I hope you find it helpful too, from one mom to another! http://www.1dental.com/moms-guide/

A total of 8 teeth for a 7 month-old baby? Oh wow! She grows up super fast! My son's already 1, but he's only got 5 teeth. The dentist also told me that it's normal, and as long as he's healthy, then we've got nothing to worry about.
Yep, she does have quite a few. The dentist said that getting teeth early only means that she will lose them early. It's so interesting how kids grow.

Your daughter is that dentist's youngest patient? Cool! And it seems that her first visit went well.

Wow! Her being the youngest patient part is surprising. Seeing the two of you together reminds me of my sister and her daughter. I was also there with her when she brought my niece to the dentist for the first time. And luckily, it also went well.

It was a very good day.

I love it when God smiles upon us. I mean, He smiles upon us all the time. But sometimes, it's like sunshine, and Christmas morning, and rainbows, and babies, and awesomeness. On steroids. And I know that those times are not always permanent, so I learn to really wrap myself in His goodness, to take it all in, be happy, and just sit back and wait to see what He is going to do in my life. We have been struggling so long. I knew it was only a matter of time before things would be OK again. Where we would feel a little stability. Where we would take all of the things we learned while struggling and apply then when times are good. We have alot of great things going on in our lives right now. Some really great things. Some amazing, mindblowing, off the grid kind of great things. I wish I could share more, but for right now, let's just say that we are incredibly blessed with some great opportunities God is putting in our lives. I leave you with a gorgeous picture of our biggest bl

What is Your Skin Care Regimen?

Since turning 34 this year, I've been really trying to make sure I am taking care of my skin. I have been using Cover Girl Liquid Powder for years, but it always seemed to break my neck out. And full disclosure, my face cleaning routine consisted of using Avery's baby wipes (which actually do remove eye makeup surprisingly well). So, needless to say, my skin didn't always look its best.   So, I received some gift cards for my birthday and I decided to go ahead and spring for some better products. First thing I did was get something designed to clean my face. I ordered the Olay ProX Microdermabrasion System.     This system came with the battery-operated scrubber with both a brush and foam pad, plus every day face wash and microdermabrasion wash to be used twice a week. I have really loved using this system. The beauty is that you can really use any face wash you'd like. I will probably buy a pore-reducing wash after the tube they sent me is empty. This syst

Dancing With Dad

I have been working on a project these last couple of weeks for my previous company. Yesterday, I was working on my computer and heard roaring laughter coming from Avery's room. I walk in and found Jason and Avery dancing and singing away.   By sheer coincidence, this popped up on my Timehop today. Avery was only 1 in this picture. Boy, are these kiddos lucky to have such a great dad! It makes me heart melt.
