31 Days of Breaking Your Mold - Day Three

Lesson #3: Get Out Of Your Rut

Ah, the inevitable rut.

Everyone gets in these, don't we?

I am reminded of the "I Love Lucy" episode when she decided the four of them were in a rut and she was determined to break free.

Here is my rut lately:

Used to get hair done all the time, don't anymore. Ever.
Used to tan, don't anymore. Ever.
Used to get my nails done, don't anymore. Ever.
Haven't lost the last 10 pounds baby weight or 20 pounds prebaby weight.
Don't ever spend money on clothes.
Never, ever motivated to clean.

I need to break this rut and NOW.

I used to be so much better at the "maintenance" stuff and I don't know what's changed, except that I don't really go out and do anything anymore, no one ever sees me except my husband and kiddos, I don't feel I have the time and it's hard for me to spend any money on it anyway.

Well, at some point, this has to change. I don't feel good about myself when I don't keep myself up. My sister, thank goodness is getting her cosmotology license and is going to be my new official hairstylist. I can tell you that she will not like me not getting my hair done on a regular basis, with all the work she put in this last weekend to get it TRULY blonde (not yellow, like the last time).

Breaking Your Mold takes work, people! And I have some hours to put in!

So, my resolve, at least to start, is to get my hair taken care of at least every 6 weeks and to buy one new piece of clothing every two weeks. Even if it's just a shirt. Since my dog chewed up both a black and brown pair of heels in the last week and a hole ripped up the back of my one pair of jeans, I am thinking we need to start there, don't you?

I feel like I'm in a rut too! I know I need some new work pants (I have lost my baby weight thank goodness-but my "hip"pos as I'm now calling them-haven't gone down at ALL, so my pants fit funny and I don't like it!) but I just can't bring myself to buy them. Why? Who knows...but I definitely know what you mean about being in a rut!

Guess Who Has A New Potty???

This girl!! Jason and I took Avery to Target tonight to find a potty chair. We didn't know what kind to get. When we got there, she loved the Sesame Street one. It's the kind that sits on the toilet, not an actual chair. I've heard both reasonings on a chair and a pad for the real toilet. On one hand, the chairs are little and easier for them to sit on and they aren't scary to flush. On the other, the pad doesn't require you to have to clean out a chair and they teach kids to sit on the big potty from the get go. What it really came down to was that we just don't have a big bathroom at all, so keeping an actual chair in the bathroom would have been hard. So we got the pad. It has a little hook that you attach to the tank, so you can hang the pad on it. I love this! I have no intention of actually potty training Avery full out, just yet. I don't think she is ready. But I have heard it's good to have one that they can practice sitting on and get u...

Some Changes...

We've been going through a bit of a transition at the Whitehead household the last month or so. I haven't really talked too much about it because I wasn't ready, to be honest. It's just a lot of change and I've been trying to figure it out in my head.   As of three weeks ago last Friday, I am no longer a full time work out of home employee.   I can't believe I just said that.   It's been the plan for several months now for me to go into real estate and it was always assumed I'd be doing that part time, while keeping my full time job. Plans kind of changed when Jason got his promotion. He'd always has a job that allowed him a lot of flexibility. In sales, especially after you've been in a position for a while, it just sort of happens that way. He could take Avery to daycare and pick her up, he could take her to doctor's appointments, he could even do chores around the house in the afternoon, while I was at work. I had some flexibi...

Just a little bathroom project....

Raise your hand if this is what your bathroom looks like after every round of baths at your house????
