Vase Redo and Another (!) Chalkboard Project

Remember when I said that anything not nailed down was getting redone? Well, I was looking for some more decor for the top of my kitchen cabinets and didn't want to spend any money. So, I started scouring my kitchen cupboards and found a wealth of vases that have somehow traveled with me over the years from apartment apartment, never really being used, so I thought, what can I do with these?

Just paint them white! Here is a really pretty vase that had a good shape. I just primed it with some Kilz...

Spray painted it white and voila!

I am digging the white and beige colors. Now, I can start adding some pops of color!

Remember the corner redo with this??

I came home one day from work, after I had done this project, and my beautiful stepdaughter had her dad take down the chalboard with "CREATE" and was coloring on it on the floor. I told her, while that one is not to play with, I will definitely make you one!

So, I found an old dry erase month calendar that was no longer being used and taped it off and spray painted it...

And then hung it up right by her bed! Perfect! I hung it so she could take it down from the wall if she wanted to use it. I promise, when I get the curtains for the girls' room, I will show the finished product. It really is cute!

I hope everyone has a great Fourth of July weekend!!! I love this time of year. I am so excited to hear "Proud to be an American!"

And to take a scene from Drop Dead Gorgeous (Brooke, I know you are feeling me on this one)

Gladys: Wait, wait, wait. I think I just thought of a theme... "Proud to be an American".

Interviewer: So what was the theme of the pageant last year?

Gladys: Oh, that was "Buy American".

Interviewer: And the year before that was?

Gladys: "USA is A-OK"

Interviewer: And can you remember the theme of your favourite pageant?

Gladys: Can I? "Amer-I-Can!" People ask me where I get this, I don't know, maybe it's a gift from God, or something.

HAPPY FOURTH!!!

Ok I LOVE the vase in white! While it was pretty in blue-it's fabulous in white! Especially if you put some pretty spring flowers in it :)

Guess Who Has A New Potty???

This girl!! Jason and I took Avery to Target tonight to find a potty chair. We didn't know what kind to get. When we got there, she loved the Sesame Street one. It's the kind that sits on the toilet, not an actual chair. I've heard both reasonings on a chair and a pad for the real toilet. On one hand, the chairs are little and easier for them to sit on and they aren't scary to flush. On the other, the pad doesn't require you to have to clean out a chair and they teach kids to sit on the big potty from the get go. What it really came down to was that we just don't have a big bathroom at all, so keeping an actual chair in the bathroom would have been hard. So we got the pad. It has a little hook that you attach to the tank, so you can hang the pad on it. I love this! I have no intention of actually potty training Avery full out, just yet. I don't think she is ready. But I have heard it's good to have one that they can practice sitting on and get u...

Some Changes...

We've been going through a bit of a transition at the Whitehead household the last month or so. I haven't really talked too much about it because I wasn't ready, to be honest. It's just a lot of change and I've been trying to figure it out in my head.   As of three weeks ago last Friday, I am no longer a full time work out of home employee.   I can't believe I just said that.   It's been the plan for several months now for me to go into real estate and it was always assumed I'd be doing that part time, while keeping my full time job. Plans kind of changed when Jason got his promotion. He'd always has a job that allowed him a lot of flexibility. In sales, especially after you've been in a position for a while, it just sort of happens that way. He could take Avery to daycare and pick her up, he could take her to doctor's appointments, he could even do chores around the house in the afternoon, while I was at work. I had some flexibi...

Just a little bathroom project....

Raise your hand if this is what your bathroom looks like after every round of baths at your house????
