Kitchen Aid Fiasco of '10

I was pretty aggravated on Saturday night. To tell the story, I must tell you that my husband and I have a "difference of opinion" in regards to cleaning.

He is the type that can't stand clutter. But he is also the type who doesn't put things away where they go, either. For example, if he sees a pile of mail on the counter that is in disarray, he will either A) Straighten it into a nice, neat pile or B) Simply throw all of the papers in the trash. He is not the type to go through all of the papers and organize them. Same holds true for pretty much everything in our house. If I leave something around and he gets annoyed enough with it, he will either stuff it somewhere it DOESN'T go, just so he doesn't have to keep looking at it, or he will toss it in the trash. Now, me, on the other hand, a pile of clutter does bother me, but in my mind, I can't just put it somewhere. I need to go through it and properly clean up and organize. I am very big on things having a place, but I am not always the best about cleaning as I go, putting things away where they need to be. I am also a pretty bad prostrastinator. So, the result is that things don't always get cleaned when I am the one who is supposed to do it. As a result of Jason, we end up losing things in a random place or not finding the thing, at all.

For example, do you and your significant other have that one fight that just sticks in your crawl and when one mentions it to the other, it's like, "HOW MANY TIMES ARE YOU GOING TO KEEP BRINGING IT UP???" Well, I will call this the great Kitchen Aid Fiasco of '10. When we moved, it was just a mess. I can't just shove stuff in boxes, I have to organize, but as a result of this trait (and my procrastination/laziness) I will end up packing right up until the last minute. BUT when I do get to my new place, I can almost always find where my stuff is. Jason's philosophy is to do it quickly, not necessarily in an organized fashion. So when we went to unpack, I found bathroom stuff with kitchen stuff, etc. BUT we were packed on time. So, which is better? I don't know. Well, when we finally got to the new house, a collection of my Kitchen Aid, red, beautiful pots went missing. We still can't find those dad gum pots. And every time we lose anything anymore, I refer back to those pots and how much I hate that they are just gone forever and, well, it doesn't end nicely.

So, I have a list of projects to do and one of them is a coffee filter wreath. I am not going to lie, I am dreading this. I know it's going to take forever and I just can't get up the motivation. But on Saturday night, when the kids were watching a movie, I said, "I am going to get that wreath done." I have a craft box in my garage where my craft supplies are supposed to go. I looked in there and my glue gun, glue sticks, and styrofoam wreath were no where to be found. I asked Jason and he said he had no glue where any of it was, so I started looking. I found the wreath first, in a drawer under our television. I knew Jason had put it there because I would have never put that in that drawer because I would have known I wouldn't be able to remember again, as it was so random. I got mad about that. Of course, his response is, "If you'd have put it away from the beginning, it would have never ended up in that drawer!" Yes, true. But we could go round and round and why the other was wrong and to blame for that wreath in that drawer. I found my glue sticks in a tupperware bin in the garage. But that glue gun? The glue gun has yet to be found. We were both so aggravated looking for that glue gun. I could just scream at both of us, me for not putting it away in the first place and Jason for finding it and tossing it somewhere that we may never see it again. I said, "THIS IS JUST LIKE THOSE POTS!!" And he about lost it. That's when we realized it was best to stop looking and let this night go down without another word about it.

And that is the story of how none of my craft projects got done this weekend. Was that the story I was meaning to tell? Anyway. Enjoy some pictures of my sweet baby!

bahhahahahaha! I'm like your husband-it either gets put away or thrown away! I'm known as the "throw-away" queen in my family :)

and my husband? well let's just say he has the side of the room opposite the bedroom door so I never have to see his "stuff" when it's left on the floor :)

Why I am Pro Universal Healthcare and Changes to Our Healthcare System

Due to my recent proactivity with my credit and paying off debt, I decided to give the hospital a call where I was admitted about a month ago and ask about my bill. I wanted to make sure I didn't miss it in the mail and I wanted to get an idea of what I'd be paying for my stay. I get on the phone with the billing department and the woman is just as nice as can be, really. She was surprised I'd even called her, considering I didn't even have a bill yet. She told me she'd sent the bill over to my insurance to be approved and paid but they hadn't heard back yet. "Just out of curiosity," I asked, knowing I would be responsible for 20% of the final bill, "how much was it?" What I heard next shocked me.   "$61,000" she said.   I said, "$61,000? I was only in the hospital for a night and only on anti-biotics, you can't be serious! My daughter cost me less than a third of that to give birth to and I was in the hospital two nights!...

Some Changes...

We've been going through a bit of a transition at the Whitehead household the last month or so. I haven't really talked too much about it because I wasn't ready, to be honest. It's just a lot of change and I've been trying to figure it out in my head.   As of three weeks ago last Friday, I am no longer a full time work out of home employee.   I can't believe I just said that.   It's been the plan for several months now for me to go into real estate and it was always assumed I'd be doing that part time, while keeping my full time job. Plans kind of changed when Jason got his promotion. He'd always has a job that allowed him a lot of flexibility. In sales, especially after you've been in a position for a while, it just sort of happens that way. He could take Avery to daycare and pick her up, he could take her to doctor's appointments, he could even do chores around the house in the afternoon, while I was at work. I had some flexibi...

That "Thing" in That Basket Isn't a Baby, You Know That, Right?

I have had the most horrible case of writer's block lately! With that said, I saw this article on Babycenter and I just had to write something about it.   So, we've heard of the trend of eating the placenta after birth . We've heard of the trend of putting them in pill form to get the nutrients . But this? This to me, is just the craziest of them all.   As a group of beings on this planet, I've never seen any other mammal who evolves to get to a certain place, then de-evolves on purpose, to be more "natural." I am sure I am seriously about to put my foot in my mouth, I am sure there are (some) people out there that I might offend with my "closed-mindedness" on this topic. But this is just, well, ridiculous to me.   Basically, after the placenta comes out, instead of cutting the cord and detaching it from the baby, you leave the placenta on, they salt it to help with the decomp process, add rosemary (I am guessing for the smell?), then p...
