Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to you all! Jason, Avery and I spent a quiet evening at home on New Year's Eve. I am still not feeling 100%, and that night, I pretty much felt awful. So, I was in bed by 10:30 or so. It was nice, though. I don't think Jason and I have ever gone out for New Year's Eve since we've been together, so maybe when the kids get older, we can actually have a party or something.

Everyone keeps talking about "words" for the New Year. I guess you pick a word and that is your theme for the year. I don't usually do that, but I was reading another friend's blog about picking her word and one word came to my mind about our year. Focus. Jason and I have big plans for 2012. We finally feel like we are stable, we have good jobs and we have a home that we are getting a good deal on. We have some previous financial obligations that we need to pay, we have two cars we want to pay off, student loans to pay off, and a few things here and there. Our goal is to get all of these paid off at least by the end of 2013. But, as I read stories of people who paid off large amounts of debts (ours, with cars and student loans and past debts is pretty substantial but not as much as most I've read, since we have no credit card debt or mortgage) it takes alot of focus. Focus and discipline.

But as I continue to go forward in this life, as both of us continue, we realize how we do and don't want to live. Neither of us wants to be a slave to our debt. To get trapped in the materialism that might hamper us from being where we want to be. Jason and I want to feel free. We want to feel like we are not trapped and locked into a financial burden constantly. I feel like in life, God gives you chances and opportunities and it's up to you to take advantage of it. Right now, we are making good money without alot of bills. We have an opportunity to either fall into old financial habits and not make things better, or to actually try and make a dent in our future goals. We want to buy a house before it's time for Avery to go to school, which gives us about 3 years. This can be done. With a little focus and determination! Keep us in mind when you pray, that Jason and I can stay focused on our goals.

I leave you with a picture of my beautiful daughter!

Sounds like a great idea and a good goal! If I can be nosey-where did you find the articles about how people paid off large amounts of debt? We have my student loans and a car loan and I'd LOVE to get them paid off because I know we're going to have to replace hubby's car soon :(
Well, I found them in random places. If you google "paying off debt stories" you will come across TONS of stories and ideas to do it. We are going to have a good year this year and have decided to keep our expenses down (we are going to pretend we are still broker than broke) so we can get our stuff paid off.

It was a very good day.

I love it when God smiles upon us. I mean, He smiles upon us all the time. But sometimes, it's like sunshine, and Christmas morning, and rainbows, and babies, and awesomeness. On steroids. And I know that those times are not always permanent, so I learn to really wrap myself in His goodness, to take it all in, be happy, and just sit back and wait to see what He is going to do in my life. We have been struggling so long. I knew it was only a matter of time before things would be OK again. Where we would feel a little stability. Where we would take all of the things we learned while struggling and apply then when times are good. We have alot of great things going on in our lives right now. Some really great things. Some amazing, mindblowing, off the grid kind of great things. I wish I could share more, but for right now, let's just say that we are incredibly blessed with some great opportunities God is putting in our lives. I leave you with a gorgeous picture of our biggest bl

What is Your Skin Care Regimen?

Since turning 34 this year, I've been really trying to make sure I am taking care of my skin. I have been using Cover Girl Liquid Powder for years, but it always seemed to break my neck out. And full disclosure, my face cleaning routine consisted of using Avery's baby wipes (which actually do remove eye makeup surprisingly well). So, needless to say, my skin didn't always look its best.   So, I received some gift cards for my birthday and I decided to go ahead and spring for some better products. First thing I did was get something designed to clean my face. I ordered the Olay ProX Microdermabrasion System.     This system came with the battery-operated scrubber with both a brush and foam pad, plus every day face wash and microdermabrasion wash to be used twice a week. I have really loved using this system. The beauty is that you can really use any face wash you'd like. I will probably buy a pore-reducing wash after the tube they sent me is empty. This syst

Dancing With Dad

I have been working on a project these last couple of weeks for my previous company. Yesterday, I was working on my computer and heard roaring laughter coming from Avery's room. I walk in and found Jason and Avery dancing and singing away.   By sheer coincidence, this popped up on my Timehop today. Avery was only 1 in this picture. Boy, are these kiddos lucky to have such a great dad! It makes me heart melt.
