So, if you read in the two posts below, you will see I wrote a post about a little girl named Avery. She has Spinal Muscular Atrophy and her mom and dad were writing a blog, crossing items off her bucket list.
They told her parents she had about 18 months to live. Sadly, this little girl passed away on Monday. You can read about that here.
In the days between me writing about her and today, here are some things Avery got to do before she went to be with Jesus...
Throw the first pitch at a baseball game...
Get a tattoo to match her mommy and daddy's...
Ride in her brand new, Radio Flyer wagon...
Oh, and get a gift from a very important person...
(Not a huge Obama fan, but that is incredibly cool).
In the last week, she went from having like, 480,000 page views one day after being featured on Yahoo to having over 1.25 million page views, and it was growing at 2.5 pageviews per second. Today was the day we were flooding Ellen with requests for Avery to be on her show. Something tells me when Ellen hears about this, her parents will be on there. All they want is to speak to the world about SMA.
Of course, I cried because any time I hear about kids who suffer illnesses and hear about parents who have to lose them just breaks my heart. Life is so incredibly unfair. It always makes me hug my daughter a little tighter, even though I hug her pretty tight (and all the time) already.
With that being said, I've been really itching for a day to spend a day, all day, alone with my daughter and to go take her to do something fun, just the two of us. So, one of the benefits of my job is lots of time off. So Friday, I am taking the day off to take Avery to...
I am so excited! I really think she will understand what she is seeing, too.
Here she is, brushing her teeth (after I already brushed them)...Please ignore the enormous piles of laundry that will get done this weekend!
Concentrating on Sprout TV
I love that little munchkin.
