When we first moved in, this house had a lot of space to fill. My formal living room has always been a hard one for me. I wish I could find another use for it because no one really ever goes in there to actually sit down as one should in a living room. But, I had to have some furniture in there just because the space was so large.
This is how it looked before we actually moved in.
There are six windows along that wall. There were these sheer curtains that I am sure had been specially made. We took those down immediately just because they looked so dated. This is what it looked like after we moved in.
Definitely an improvement!
Well, now, I finally got new curtains on that wall. I needed 7 panels and at least three long curtain rods, so needless to say, it was going to be an expensive endeavor. Well, this weekend, I found panels for $5.99 each and curtain rods for $7.99. I wouldn't say these are my dream curtains, but they are better than the nothing I had on my windows before!! If I had it my way, I would have curtains that are colorful and go all the way up to the top of the wall, but I will take this for sure!

Last year...
Here it is, right before I changed it up.
And now.
None of my rooms are ever done. There is always something else I want to do. Or I will get a new idea, or I will want to move around the furniture. Décor in a house, to me, is always an evolution. And I don't wait for the "perfect" thing. I get what I like right then, knowing that I can change it at any moment. I look at the curtains, for instance, and I am happy I was able to find good curtains at a good price. One of these days, I will get curtains I love. But I would rather have something than nothing. And I know nothing I do is permanent. My husband knows that too, that's why I love that he's such a good sport when I ask him to hang something or be a furniture mover that day.
This room is kind of awkward and I never like where the Christmas tree ends up. The windows face the front of the house and I love having a lit tree in the window. But I just always feel like there is a better set up than what I come up with. But the way this is right now, I like it.
I love how the piano is now part of the living room arrangement instead of just off to the side. And of course, a picture of this couch wouldn't be complete without Molly sitting on it.
Do you move furniture around constantly, or is it just me?
