Musically Talented Girls

Sophia and Avery are both pretty interested in music. Sophia loves to sing and so does Avery. Avery also loves to bang on the drums from Rock Band. And now, we have a new instrument in our house. This piano has been at my mom's house since I was at least 7 or so? I remember taking lessons at a pretty young age. Before that, it was my Mimi's. Now, it's mine. I am so proud that I have this family heirloom to pass down. It does need some tuning, but it's still so pretty. Mom let Avery and Sophia play on it and they just LOVE it. Avery will say "sit down!" then when you sit down she says "Sing!" (Have I mentioned how incredibly BOSSY she's become lately?) I would love to have Sophia take lessons, but she doesn't have a piano at her mom's house to practice on. Hopefully Avery will take lessons someday. On Saturday, we played Rock Band. We had to get this shot because it was so cute. Happy Tuesday to you!

Green Craigslist Dresser Story

So, I put these pics in with my dining room reveal, but I thought I would do something additional about this dresser. As you can see, this dresser was green, but wood. I got it for free on CL and it was missing one piece of hardware. Yes, those are stickers of some kind, but they aren't covering up a hole, so I am not really sure what purpose they served. But all the drawers worked and it was in good condition. It just looked God awful. The first thing I did was spray paint it to match the table with Krylon Dual Paint and Primer in Ivory. I also spray painted all of the hardward in Krylon Oil Rubbed Bronze. My original plan was to stain the top in the same stain as the dining room table, but since it turned out that the green layer was actually veneer, it just wouldn't be possible to do it without much more work than I wanted to do. So I decided to use acrylic paint in Gold and just add some accents. This is how it looked right after I was finished. I just put some gold...

Vacation Trip

So, this will be the first week Jason and I have ever had off together. And it's over already! Boo! Anyway, we went to Broken Bow, OK and stayed with Jason's family. I am only posting a few pictures because Faith and Shari took so many.... The house was really nice. There were 13 of us total and only 3 rooms, but the rooms were really big and had big beds in them. They were also seperated from each other, which helped the kids not to wake each other up. It was on a ranch, so there was lots of land for them to explore and run around on. There was also tons of bugs and snakes. The last day, as we were leaving, we found a copperhead coiled up on the firewood. Had I seen that the first day, I don't know that I would have let the kids roam so freely. (not that Avery did, anyway). There was also a creek the ran in the back of the house that was full of crawfish and minnows that the kids just couldn't stay out of. We got a chance to get a pontoon boat and go out and tub...

Dining Room Reveal

Well, it's time. It's taken me about two months to finish this redo. It's cost me less than $200 to redo about 4 rooms in my house, this one room cost me about $125 or so, including the paint and supplies. Where to begin?? Ok...before... After! A closer look at the table... One of these... Became this, after some spray paint and stenciling... This ugly Craigslist find... Became this!! The top of the table is stained. We had planned to do the same with the dresser, until we started realizing that while the dresser is wood, the top green layer was actually veneer. So I ended up painting it with a 98 cent tube of acrylic paint and some polyuerithane. It worked really well! This window... Became this... These curtains.. Were replaced with these... Not burlap, but still similar and just as cheap. And I finally found a place for my beautiful wreath made of coffee filters ... I am just so happy with it. I could have just bou...

Before and After: Me!

I am kind of blown away, looking at my blog from the last few days, how different I can look from one day to the next. Tuesday Night... Wednesday Morning It makes me never want to leave my house without makeup, get lasik, and carry around my child in front of me to hide all of my bodily flaws. Who needs lapband when you have a cuddly toddler in front of you at all times??

Pics from Gigi's iPhone

I found some pics on my mom's phone that I'd never seen and wanted to make sure they got on the blog! Enjoy!

From the Lakes of Minnesota....

Happy 4th of July! We are home and Avery is in bed. I guess fireworks for this little girl are going to have to wait one more year. We got up this morning and took some pictures with my whole family. Donuts and coffee this morning, hamburgers and hot dogs for lunch/dinner, swimming, and a nap (for me). Pretty awesome day! My only complaint is that it's a holiday in the middle of the week, so I am a little bummed out about having to go to work tomorrow and Friday, especially when Jason and I are going on VACATION next week! Whoop whoop! It's a real shame no one loves my child. Avery loves her Dabe. I have a few pictures where she is just staring up at him. Leslie, you stop that tickling me! My hair looks so good in this picture. Thank you Brooke! It's also a real shame that Avery has no good men or dads in her life who love her. Happy Fourth Of July!
